Govt Employees get punctuality lessons; late comers to face punishment

New Delhi, June 23: The Central Government on Tuesday, June 23 issued a strict notifications for all government employees of the country.

The government warned the employees to maintain punctuality in offices as turning up to office late would be proved to be costly. Government employees, who will not come to office on time, would face disciplinary action.

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), in its notice, wrote, "Habitual late attendance is viewed as conduct unbecoming of a government servant and disciplinary action may be taken against such a government servant."

"It is also added that punctuality in attendance is to be observed by government servants at all levels," added DoPT in the notice to all government employees, babus.

There are about 48 lakh central government employees working across the country. As per existing instructions, half-a-day's casual leave should be debited for each day of late attendance, but late attendance upto an hour, on not more than two occasions in a month, and for justifiable reasons may be condoned by the competent authority.
