Govt approves Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana till Nov
New Delhi, July 08: Union Minister Prakash Javadekar on Wednesday announced that the cabinet has approved to extend the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana in the wake of increased demand for food during festive season.

Addressing media, Javadekar said, ''In view of need for continuous support to the poor and needy, Cabinet approves extension of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana - allocation of additional foodgrain for further five months from July to November, 2020.
Last month, PM Modi said that the free ration scheme will be extended in the wake of increased demand for food amid the festive season. In another major decision, the cabinet minister said the around 1.08 lakh ready-to-live houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana will be given to migrant workers on rent in over 100 cities.
Earlier, Cabinet meeting was held on June 24 and some key decisions were taken. Reacting to the decisions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said, "The landmark decisions taken by the Union Cabinet are aimed at accelerating economic growth and the country's strides in space, besides assisting farmers, villages and small businesses."
