Government invites research proposals on treatment of diabetes through Yoga

New Delhi, Aug 11 The Ayush ministry has invited research proposals on 'Management of Diabetes through Yoga'.

The proposals have been invited from organisations engaged in research in yogic sciences or practise, including medical, scientific, and research and development institutions besides universities, and institutional departments having adequate infrastructure and technical expertise. The ministry will fund the selected proposals.

This comes in the backdrop of Prime Minister Narendra Modi calling on people to develop ways to treat diabetes through yoga in his International Yoga Day address in Chandigarh.

"In this one year, you continue to do what you do for yoga but focus on one subject and this is my subject - diabetes and yoga." he had said.

The AYUSH ministry will also issue a detailed standard yoga protocol for prevention and treatment of diabetes soon.
