Good News For Farmers! Center Approves 1.5 Times MSP On 14 Crops; Check New Rate List
A piece of good news arrived on Wednesday evening when the Center announced the approval of Minimum Support Price (MSP) on 14 Kharif crops. The decision was taken after a key meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Agriculture Ministry, in a statement, said the Government has increased the MSP of 14 Kharif Crops for the marketing season 2024-25, to ensure remunerative prices to the growers for their produce.
Union Minister Ashwani Vaishnav told the media that "Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always given preference to farmers. The first decision in the third term was taken for farmers. In today's Cabinet meeting also, a very important decision was taken for the welfare of farmers. The Kharif season is beginning and the Cabinet has approved a minimum support price of 14 crops for the season."

Here is a comprehensive list of crops and their updated Minimum Support Prices (MSP):
- Nigerseed: Rs 8,717 (increased from Rs 5,811)
- Sesamum: Rs 9,267 (increased from Rs 6,178)
- Arhar Dal: Rs 7,550 (increased from Rs 4,761)
- Paddy: Rs 2,300 (increased from Rs 1,533; increased by 5.35% or Rs 117 from previous season; was Rs 1,310 in 2013-14)
- Jowar: Rs 3,371 (increased from Rs 2,247)
- Cotton (Normal Variety): Rs 7,121 (increased by Rs 510)
- Cotton (Another Variety): Rs 7,521 (increased by Rs 510)
- Ragi: Rs 4,290
- Bajra: Rs 2,625
- Maize: Rs 2,225
A day ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on his visit to Varanasi released the 17th installment of the Kisan Samman Nidhi, costing around Rs 20,000 crore as part of the financial support to farmers. Each registered farmer gets Rs 6000 from the government every year.
PM Modi was accompanied by newly appointed Agriculture Minister and former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
