Golden Temple Receives Bomb Threat via Email; Punjab Police Launches Probe

Security was intensified at the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Monday after the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) received an email threatening a bomb blast at the revered shrine. Following the threat, Punjab Police registered a case and initiated a full-scale investigation, involving cybercrime experts and other intelligence units.

Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar confirmed that the SGPC had lodged a complaint regarding the threat and said that the authorities are taking the matter very seriously. "We received a complaint from SGPC officials that they were sent an email warning of a bomb blast at the Golden Temple. We are working with the state cybercrime unit and other agencies to trace the origin of the email," he told ANI.

Commissioner Bhullar assured that all possible security measures have been put in place. Bomb disposal squads, SGPC task forces, and additional police personnel have been deployed around the temple complex to ensure safety. "We are confident that we will crack the case soon. There is no reason to panic," he said, urging citizens to remain alert and report any suspicious activity.

Authorities have emphasized that while the situation is under control, heightened vigilance will continue. The police are actively monitoring the area and have appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement to maintain peace and security in the region.
