"Godman" held for outraging modesty of woman

), Feb 8: A self-styled godman Swami Purna Chaitanya Baba, who heads a residential Primary Vidyalaya at Kirkuti village in Kandhamal district, was arrested on charge of allegedly outraging the modesty of a woman teacher, police said.

Baba was arrested yesterday under section 354 and 506 IPC and forwarded to jail custody after being produced before a court at, Balliguda, Arjun Barik, SDPO, Balliguda informed.

The accused ‘Baba’ allegedly had visited the house of the victim on certain plea on August 6, 2013 night. The victim was serving as a teacher for months in the ashram Vidyalaya. The baba allegedly made uncomfortable moves,the victim said in her FIR.

The accused Baba has confessed to the crime during interrogation, Barik said. The management of the Vidyalaya have condemned the arrest of the Baba and termed the incident as baseless and fabricated. The Vidyalaya authorities also demanded an impartial probe into the matter.
