Goa to keep a check on quacks by enacting law: State Health minister

State Health Minister Laxmikant Parsekar told the Assembly today that the Bill would be tabled during the current session keeping in view the need to curb illegal medical practices.
"The illegalities like quacks would be curbed through this Act. At present there is no way to check such kind of illegalities," Parsekar told the House.
He was responding to a question by Independent legislator Vijay Sardesai on the floor of the House. Sardesai pointed out that there are several fly-by-night medical practitioners who appear during the tourist season to practice in the state.
"There are no checks on these practitioners and even there is no mechanism to check whether they are qualified," he said.
