Goa - Hotel receptionist beaten in spat over old currency notes

Panaji, Nov 14 A hotel receptionist in Goa was seriously injured when he fell off the second floor after being assaulted by four unidentified persons as he refused to accept old currency notes from them as an advance, police said.

Receptionist Francis Fernandes' brother, Anthony, in a complaint with the police, said the four prospective lodgers walked into the hotel in the South Goa town and tried to book a room.
"When my brother did not let them check in because they were trying to pay using old currency notes, they assaulted him," he said.
In course of the scuffle with the four, Fernandes fell off the second floor of the hotel, resulting in multiple fractures.
"An FIR has been filed under section 325 (causing grievous hurt) of the Indian Penal Code," a police spokesperson said.
