GJM indefinite strike withdrawn
A Gorkha Janmukti Morcha central committee meeting in Kurseong, presided by Chief Coordinator Binay Tamang, on Thursday resolved to withdraw the ongoing bandh from 1st September to 13.

Tamang stated that this is in response to the request by the Union and West Bengal Government.
"If talks with the state scheduled to be held on September 13 at Uttarkanya fail, then a future course of action will be decided. The Gorkhaland movement including daily rallies will continue," he also said.
Gorkha Janmukti Morcha Chief Bimal Gurung Bimal Gurung, in a telephonic conversation with media persons from his hideout, stated the bandh will be imposed more stringently from Friday.
He claimed that the Central Committee meeting was held without his consent. Chances of clashes are very strong and the District Administration is keeping a close watch on the situation. State Government's top brass went into a huddle in Nabanna, the State Secretariat, after the announcement.
