Uttar Pradesh Girl Injured in Suspected Acid Attack by Unknown Assailants

A young girl was reportedly abducted from her residence by two unidentified individuals who attacked her and doused her with a flammable liquid, suspected to be acid. This incident has prompted the police to initiate an investigation. The girl, a class 8 student, is currently hospitalised and receiving medical care.

Girl Injured in Suspected Acid Attack

Additional Superintendent of Police Rajeev Kumar Singh stated that the incident occurred in Pathra village, within the Rahra police jurisdiction. It happened around 3.30 am when the minor was assaulted by unknown attackers who threw a flammable substance at her, resulting in burns. Singh mentioned that the family lodged a complaint, and the victim has been transferred to a higher medical facility due to her critical condition.

Investigation and Suspect Identification

The girl's brother described the terrifying event, explaining that his sister was taken to Kikar forest by two men who gagged her while she was asleep. He added, "Right now, she is unable to speak about the incident, and we will only understand more once her condition improves." The attack was reported to authorities around 3.30 pm, several hours after it occurred.

Preliminary findings indicate that the assault might be connected to an existing feud. The victim's brother filed a complaint at the Rahra police station, resulting in an FIR being registered. A suspect named Rampal from the same village has been identified. There has been ongoing hostility between the families since a murder case in 2020 involving both parties.

Authorities' Response and Support

Amroha District Magistrate Nidhi Gupta has communicated with the district police chief and other senior officials about the girl's condition. She assured that efforts are being made to provide all necessary support to the victim and her family. "We are making every effort to provide relief to the victim and her family," Gupta stated.

Chief Medical Superintendent Dr Abha confirmed that the girl has been referred to a higher medical centre for treatment. She noted that such cases are typically handled by the Primary Health Centre (PHC).

The investigation continues as authorities work diligently to uncover more details about this distressing incident and bring those responsible to justice.
