Gang of human traffickers busted in UP

Mathura, Mar 18: With the arrest of five persons, police today claimed to have rescued a girl from an inter-state gang allegedly involved in trafficking of women, police said.

The accused have been identified as Rekha and Ashok of Vrindaban's Gaura Nagar area, along with Hari Om, Netaram and Roshan of Bharatpur district's Agwa village, SP City Mukul Dwivedi said.

Acting on a tip-off, police laid a trap and apprehended the accused who were operating in Vrindaban's Gaura Nagar colony, they said, adding a girl has also been rescued from the spot.

According to police, Rekha was the kingpin of the gang, who along with her gang members used to target college girls and later "sell them", they said.

The girl who was kidnapped by Rajesh, sought the help of police by dialing helpline number 1090, which was introduced by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. Police have registered a case under relevant Acts against the accused and further investigations are on to apprehend the other gang members, they said.
