Gandhi Family's Electoral Fortunes To Be Tested In Key UP Constituencies

Lok Sabha election 2024 is going to be a test of power and support for Gandhis in many key seats of Uttar Pradesh, which were once known as its forts. The litmus test is not restricted to Congress only, but Gandhi family members who are part of the BJP will undergo the power test.

All eyes would be at Amethi, Rae Bareli, Pilibhit, and Sultanpur constituencies.

In Pilibhit, BJP has dropped Varun Gandhi this time and placed their bet on state minister Jiten Prasad against Samajwadi Party's Bhagwant Saran Gangwar. However, BSP's Muslim candidate Annis Ahmed Khan may help BJP secure its hold on the seat.

In Sultanpur, Menaka Sanjay Gandhi (BJP) seems likely to win. The division of votes between SP's Ram Bhuwal Nishad and BSP's Uday Raj Verma could work in her favour.

In Rae Bareli, Rahul Gandhi (Congress) faces a tough battle against BJP's Dinesh Pratap Singh. Singh narrowly lost to Sonia Gandhi last time. BSP's Thakur Prasad Yadav could further split the votes.

Amethi was vacated by the Gandhi family. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is personally overseeing the Congress campaign to ensure party victory here.

According to the pre-poll reports, BJP is likely to make a gain in their voting percentage in all key seats but will they be able to clinch the victory from Congress' jaws, which would be cleared on June 4, 2024, when the final results for elections would be announced.
