The father of a Galwan martyr was allegedly beaten up and arrested by cops for erecting a statue of his son on the government's land in Jandaha village, Vaishali, Bihar.
The victim has been identified as Raj Kapoor Singh, father of Jai Kishore Singh who died in the 2020 Galwan clashes with China.

"On January 23, a case was registered under SC/ST Act over a statue being erected on the land of Hari Nath Ram & on govt land in Jandaha. Later, walls bordering the statue were built. They have not sought any permission. If they wanted, they could have made it in their own land or sought land from the government. There would not have been an issue then. The landowner's rights being violated due to illegal encroachment," ANI quoted the SDPO Mahua as saying.
The family of the martyr has accused the cops of manhandling Raj Kapoor Singh."DSP ma'am visited us, asking us to remove the statue within 15 days. I said I will show her the document. Later, the police station in-charge came to our home and beat up my father before arresting him. They also abused my father. I am also in the armed forces personnel," Nand Kishore, brother of Jai Kishore Singh, said.
The locals protested against the police action and also chanted 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai'.
The CCTV footage has now exposes the cops dragging Raj Kapoor Singh from the village. The cops have registered the complaint under the Scheduled Casts and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act following a complaint against him by Dalit villagers who accused him of encroaching upon government land, according to a report.
"They came in the dead of night and arrested him like he is a terrorist," Nanda Kishore, who is also in the army, claimed.
The cops took action based on the complaint filed by the villagers that the solider's memorial blocked access to a neighbour's farm, police officer Poonam Kesari told NDTV. "They built a memorial, then overnight walls came up around it. There was encroachment on government land. He was told repeatedly to remove the encroachment," the officer said.
In 2021, the family had installed a statute of the martyr on a piece of land outside their home and officials from the government took part in the event to unveil the memorial.
