2024 Republic Day: 80 Gallantry Awards Announced; Check Full List

On the eve of the 75th Republic Day, President of India Droupadi Murmu announced 80 gallantry awards for Armed forces and security personnel, including six Kirti Chakra and 16 Shaurya Chakra.

Kirti Chakra is India's second-highest peacetime gallantry award, followed by the Shaurya Chakra. Out of the six Kirti Chakra awards, three were conferred posthumously, and two out of the 16 Shaurya Chakra awards were also posthumous.

List of Kirti Chakra Awardees:

  • Major Digvijay Singh Rawat of the 21st Battalion (Parachute Regiment, Special Forces)
  • Major Deependra Vikram Basnet from the Sikh Regiment's fourth battalion
  • Havildar Pawan Kumar Yadav from the 21st battalion of the Mahar Regiment
  • Captain Anshuman Singh from the 26th Battalion of the Punjab Regiment (Army Medical Corps)
  • Havildar Abdul Majid of the Parachute Regiment's ninth battalion (special forces)
  • Sepoy Pawan Kumar from the 55th Battalion of Rashtriya Rifles

List of Shaurya Chakra Awardees:

  • Major Maneo Francis of the Parachute Regiment's 21st battalion
  • Major Amandeep Jakhar from the Sikh Regiment's fourth battalion
  • Naib Subedar Baria Sanjay Kumar Bhamar Singh of the Mahar Regiment
  • Havildar Sanjay Kumar from 9 Assam Rifles
  • Parshotam Kumar (civilian) from the Rashtriya Rifles
  • Lieutenant Bimal Ranjan Behera of the Indian Navy
  • Wing Commander Shailesh Singh (pilot) of the Indian Air Force
  • Flight Lieutenant Hrishikesh Jayan Karuthedath (pilot) of the Indian Air Force
  • Assistant Commandant Bibhor Kumar Singh of the CRPF

The accolades comprised 53 'Sena' Medals (seven awarded posthumously), one 'Nao Sena' Medal for gallantry, and four 'Vayu Sena' Medals for gallantry. Additionally, President Murmu approved 311 defense decorations for members of the armed forces and other personnel.
