G20 Summit: Bulletproof 'Beast' And Three-Layer Security Measures In Place For US Prez Biden

US President Joe Biden will be in India this week to participate in the G20 Summit and will have a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 8 on the sidelines of the historic meeting.

"We commend Prime Minister Modi for his leadership of the G20 this year and we are committed to helping ensure that India has a successful G20 host as they host (the summit) this year," White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters at her daily news conference on Wednesday.

"So, that's going to continue to be our commitment. During Prime Minister Modi's visit here in June, the President (Biden) and the prime minister shared their determination to deliver on shared priorities at the summit," she said in response to a question. "The President is very much looking forward to continuing that work with the Prime Minister and other leaders later this week as we head out tomorrow," Jean-Pierre said.

Biden's Security

For the first time, India will be hosting a powerful group of leaders from across the globe and India has made elaborate security arrangements for the G20 summit.

Security arrangements will involve a substantial contingent of personnel, including skilled snipers. The Indian Air Force will maintain fighter planes on standby, and rigorous surveillance of the airspace over the national capital will be in effect to detect any suspicious activities, including unmanned aerial vehicles and drones.

As far as US President Joe Biden's security is concerned, he will get a three-layer of security, according to a report in India Today.

The first layer comprises paramilitary force personnel, the second layer would have commandos from India's Special Protection Group and the last layer has secret service agents, the report said.

Air Force and Indian Army helicopters will maintain continuous surveillance over Delhi. These helicopters will carry Army and National Security Guard (NSG) commandos. Anti-drone systems will be strategically placed in various locations, and NSG and Army snipers will be positioned on tall buildings throughout Delhi.

The Delhi Police has been actively coordinating with the advance teams from different countries, addressing their security needs and concerns, the report said.

The US President will be staying at the ITC Maurya Sheraton Hotel. All staff members will undergo thorough background checks, and individuals granted access to the 14th floor, where Joe Biden will be staying, will receive special access cards

The report further claims that a special lift has been installed to reach the 14th floor and about 400 rooms have been booked in the hotel.

He will be travelling on the United States presidential state car, nicknamed the Beas, Cadillac One. This will be flown from the US in a Boeing C-17 Globemaster III, a large military transport aircraft.

The G20 Summit will be held on September 9 and 10.
