G20: Shekhawat Discusses Tourism Cooperation with Brazil, Spain, and Saudi Arabia Ministers

These meetings occurred during the G20 Tourism Ministerial Conference in Brazil. The talks focused on enhancing cooperation in tourism and strengthening people-to-people ties. Focus on Brazil

Shekhawat's meeting with Brazilian Tourism Minister Celso Sabino was particularly noteworthy. Discussions centred on increasing tourism through joint agreements, visa facilitation, and improved air connectivity. "These initiatives will not only strengthen our economic ties but also foster cultural exchange and people-to-people connections," Shekhawat stated. He expressed enthusiasm for welcoming more Brazilian visitors to India.

During the G20 Ministerial Meeting in Belem, Brazil, Shekhawat delivered India's statement. He emphasised tourism's role in economic development, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability. The minister acknowledged Brazil's efforts and those of all G20 nations in advancing the tourism agenda set during India's G20 Presidency. He reiterated India's commitment to promoting green tourism through collaboration and innovation.

Engagements with Other Nations

Shekhawat also met with Spain's Tourism Minister Jordi Hereu i Boher. They discussed enhancing tourism ties through direct connectivity, trade fairs, and cultural exchanges. "Looking forward to interesting opportunities ahead," Shekhawat noted. Additionally, he met Czech Republic's Deputy Prime Minister Ivan Barto to discuss eco-friendly travel and innovative infrastructure.

In another significant meeting, Shekhawat engaged with Singaporean Minister Alvin Tan Sheng Hui. Their discussions focused on sustainable tourism, cultural exchange, and infrastructure development. "Tourism that helps the world grow, together & sustainably!" Shekhawat remarked on social media.

Saudi Arabia and USA Discussions

The minister also held talks with Saudi Arabia's Tourism Minister Ahmed bin Aqeel al-Khateeb. They explored strengthening tourism ties through youth training and development initiatives. Shekhawat expressed interest in collaborative opportunities for sustainable tourism growth.

A brief discussion with the USA focused on facilitating tourist flows and addressing other significant issues in the tourism sector. These engagements underscore India's proactive approach to fostering international tourism partnerships.

Shekhawat participated in dialogues organised by the UN Forum and WTTC during the conference. He highlighted the importance of public-private collaboration in driving sustainable tourism and preserving heritage. These discussions aimed at fostering growth and development within the sector.
