Hyderabad's Future City and Regional Ring Road Projects Set to Transform Urban Landscape
The Telangana government is planning significant developments around Hyderabad, including a Future City on its outskirts, the revitalisation of the Musi River, and the construction of a Regional Ring Road. These initiatives aim to transform the city, according to a senior official. Special Chief Secretary for IT, Jayesh Ranjan, shared these plans during the launch of Dinesh C Sharma's book, *Beyond Biryani - The Making of a Globalised Hyderabad*.

The proposed Future City will feature hubs dedicated to education, sports, and medical tourism. This development reflects a vision to elevate Hyderabad's status further. Historically, Hyderabad was established by the Qutb Shahi dynasty, while Secunderabad was developed under British rule. The IT hub known as Cyberabad emerged during N Chandrababu Naidu's tenure as Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh.
Hyderabad's Evolution and Future Prospects
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy believes that developing the Future City is crucial for Hyderabad's next phase of growth. Jayesh Ranjan highlighted this vision at the book launch event. He commended Sharma's book for capturing Hyderabad's transformation over time. "It's the work of a genius. It's the work of an artist," he remarked.
Author Dinesh C Sharma explained that while researching his book, he encountered two main narratives about Hyderabad. Some people lamented the city's decline, while others glorified its past. However, many had little to say about its current state or viewed it merely as a real estate boom.
Sharma noted a gap in understanding what Hyderabad represents today and how it has evolved. Through his book, he aimed to bridge this gap and provide insights into the city's journey. His work seeks to offer a balanced perspective on Hyderabad's past and present.
The government's ambitious plans for Hyderabad reflect a commitment to enhancing its infrastructure and global appeal. By focusing on education, sports, and medical tourism, the Future City aims to attract diverse opportunities and investments. These developments are expected to shape Hyderabad's future significantly.
