UP Gangster Ravi Nagar Captured in Thailand; Police Sources Confirm Arrest

In a significant development, Ravi Nagar, also known as Ravi Kaana, a notorious gangster from western Uttar Pradesh, has been arrested in Thailand, as confirmed by official sources on Tuesday. His arrest marks a crucial milestone for the Noida Police, who have been on his trail for multiple criminal activities. Alongside Nagar, his girlfriend Kajal Jha was also detained by Thai authorities, highlighting the international reach of this operation.

Nagar, 42, has been a wanted figure in India, primarily for his alleged involvement in the scrap trade through illicit means. His criminal record includes being booked under the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities Prevention Act, with an FIR registered against him at the Beta 2 police station in Greater Noida on January 2 this year. Moreover, he faces accusations in a gang-rape case filed at the Noida Sector 39 police station on December 28, 2023.

The Gautam Buddh Nagar police have been coordinating with Interpol and local authorities abroad to track down Nagar. Their efforts were bolstered by the issuance of a look out circular and a red corner notice in January, aimed at preventing him from fleeing the country. A senior police officer confirmed the arrest of Nagar and Jha in Thailand and mentioned that they would be extradited to Greater Noida for trial after completing necessary legal procedures. However, specific details about the extradition process were not disclosed.

Following the registration of the Gangsters Act case against him, local police have apprehended approximately a dozen members of Nagar's gang. They have also seized assets allegedly acquired through criminal activities, including factories, offices, and vehicles, valued at around Rs 200 crore. Nagar's criminal operations reportedly involved using his influence within the scrap trade to secure contracts unlawfully and participating in the theft of materials from industrial sites.

This arrest underscores the extensive efforts by Indian law enforcement to combat organized crime and bring fugitives to justice, regardless of their location. The collaboration between national and international agencies has proven instrumental in apprehending individuals like Nagar, who are accused of exploiting their positions for criminal gain.
