From Junkyard To Your Ride? Uber India Faces Backlash Over Filthy Cabs!
A recent post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) has sparked a debate about the quality of Uber services in India. Rohit Arora, an Uber customer, shared his frustration over the poor condition of a cab he booked, describing the vehicle as something that seemed to have come straight out of a "junkyard."
Accompanied by a picture of the shabby and dusty car, Arora expressed his disappointment, stating that he wasn't expecting a luxury car but simply a clean and hygienic ride. "Uber has no standard in India. It looks like the car came from a junkyard," he wrote, tagging Uber India, Uber Support, and the main Uber account.

"Not Asking for Luxury, Just Basic Cleanliness"
In a follow-up post, Arora clarified that he owns a car but frequently opts for Uber Priority or Premiere services due to urgency. He called out Uber for failing to inspect and maintain the vehicles in their fleet, pointing out that such issues seem to be more prevalent in India compared to other countries.
"I didn't ask for a Mercedes with an amazing infotainment system. All I care about is cleanliness and hygiene. That doesn't require money, just a small effort," he added.
Uber's Response
Responding to the post, Uber India Support requested more details to address the issue. "We would like to review this as soon as possible, Rohit. Please share your registered contact number and email address via direct message, along with the exact date and time of the trip, and we will get back to you promptly," the company replied.
Social Media Users Share Similar Experiences
Arora's post struck a chord with many users, who shared their own grievances with Uber. One user commented, "Stopped giving them 5 stars a while ago. Averaging about 3 now. They'll strive for better when their ratings drop!"
Another recounted a harrowing experience at the Delhi T3 Terminal Uber pickup point, saying, "Not just the condition of the cars, but the drivers' attitudes and services are problematic. It often leads to passenger harassment."
A third user humorously noted, "Totally agree. I literally have to give an 'interview' before the cab driver arrives: Where do you want to go? Will you pay by cash? Will you go offline? The AC won't be turned on... and so on."
Calls for Better Standards
Several users emphasized the need for stricter standards and better vehicle maintenance by Uber. One user shared, "Booked a Premier by paying 100 extra for a short ride. Got a car with more than 5 lakh km on the odometer. The car was so dirty, a public bus would have been better."
This growing discontent highlights the urgent need for Uber to revisit its quality control measures in India to retain customer trust and satisfaction.
