Freedom from IS after 17 months, Indian doctor is back with his family
For this doctor it was freedom after 17 months. After spending 17 months in the captivity of the Islamic State, 62 year old physician Dr Ramamurthy Kosanam touched down at his hometown in Vijayawada. I am free and feel lucky to see my family in India, he said.

Recalling the ordeal, the 62 year old doctor said that he would be shifted around several times through dungeons in the line of fire. The sight at the airport was a heart rendering one. Dr Ramamurthy who had suffered multiple bullet injuries could barely walk. He could not move his left wrist as there is a bullet still lodged.
The doctors say that he would need at least another four months to completely recover. I was taken to the battle field to treat injured jihadis he said. I had to cater to my own injuries while treating on others he said.
The doctor was abducted on September 8 2015 in Libya. He was freed on February 22 after the intervention of top officials in the government. He recalled that his captors were educated persons. They were aware of the socio-economic conditions of India, he said. There were operatives in the age group of 10 and 65, he also said.
