Former minister, MLAs urge President to pardon Yakub Memon
Mumbai, Jul 28: Several Muslim legislators and a former minister from the Congress party in Maharashtra today wrote to President Pranab Mukherjee seeking a pardon for Yakub Memon.
"We humbly request Your Excellency to consider the case of Yakub Memon, grant him clemency under Article 72 of the Constitution as well as commute his death sentence to life imprisonment," the letter said.
