Former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren Gets Bail In Land Scam Case
The Jharkhand High Court on Friday granted bail to former Chief Minister Hemant Soren in the alleged land scam case. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had arrested Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader on January 31 after a dramatic screenplay.
Before the arrest, Hemant Soren ignored 10 notices. He was purportedly absconding for a day and later appeared before the investigating officials.

JMM leader also tendered his resignation and handed over the power to party senior leader and close to JMM chief Shibu Soren, Champai Soren.
News agency PTI quoted Hemant Soren's senior counsel Arunabh Chowdhury saying: "Bail has been granted to Soren. The court has held that prima facie he is not guilty of the offence and there is no likelihood of the petitioner committing an offence when on bail."
The 48-year-old politician is currently lodged in Birsa Munda jail. During the hearing, ED's counsel SV Raju argued that if Soren is released on bail, he would commit a similar offence.
However, the court favored former CM this time who was behind bars from the last 6 months.
INDIA bloc leaders welcomed Jharkhand High Court's order stating keeping anyone in jail without crime is wrong.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee welcomed the court's order granting bail to Soren. In a post on micro-blogging site X, formerly known as Twitter, Mamata Banerjee said, "Hemant Soren, an important tribal leader, and Chief Minister of Jharkhand, had to resign because of a case, but today he has received bail from the Hon'ble High Court!"
"I am very happy with the great development and am sure that he will start his public activities immediately," she added.
