Former J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik Passes Away At 79

Satya Pal Malik, a former governor, has died. He was receiving medical care at Delhi's Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for an extended period but unfortunately did not survive. His tenure as governor included roles in Jammu and Kashmir, Goa, and Meghalaya.

Malik's contributions to these states were significant during his time in office. His leadership in Jammu and Kashmir was particularly notable, given the region's complex political landscape. In Goa and Meghalaya, he also played key roles in governance.

A post on his official X account confirmed his passing. The former Rajya Sabha member had been admitted to New Delhi's RML Hospital.

Malik began his political journey as an MLA in the 1970s. Over a career spanning nearly five decades, he was associated with multiple political parties.

In his later years, well into his 70s, Malik was viewed as harboring political aspirations, often reaching out to his core support base of Jats and farmers.
