Former Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain Moves SC Seeking Bail in Money Laundering Case

Former Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain has moved the Supreme Court seeking bail in a money laundering case being probed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

The AAP leader has challenged the Delhi High Court order dismissing his bail plea in the money laundering case against him, ANI reported.

Earlier, the Delhi High Court dismissed the bail plea of jailed minister saying he is an influential person and may tamper with evidence.

Last year, the ED had arrested Jain in the money laundering case based on a CBI FIR lodged against Jain in 2017 under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma also rejected the bail pleas of the co-accused in the case-Vaibhav Jain and Ankush Jain.

According to the charge sheet, the AAP leader held the position of Minister in the Delhi Government from February 14, 2015, to May 31, 2017, and during that time, he obtained assets that exceed what can be accounted for by his known income.

Meanwhile, a superintendent of Tihar Jail has received a show-cause notice for shifting two men to the cell of former Delhi minister and Aam Aadmi Party's jailed leader Satyendar Jain on the latter's request.

Citing the depression and loneliness, Jain had a letter to the jail administration requesting them to lodge him with two more inmates. The AAP leader has been lodged inside Tihar Jail since June 2022,

"Jain in his application said he is feeling depressed and low because of loneliness. A psychiatrist suggested him for more social interactions and he requested to lodge him with at least two more persons. He also provided two persons' names, from the same ward no. 5," ANI quoted an official as saying.
