For sake of party, Rahul Gandhi should take a call says Congress MP
Miffed Congress leaders are questioning AICC Vice-president Rahul Gandhi's leadership of the party. While some like Congress MLAs in Goa are blaming the 'senior leadership' of the Congress without naming anyone in particular for party's failure to consolidate support, others are hinting at Rahul wanting to re-think spearheading the party any longer.

The humiliating defeat that the Congress witnessed in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand seemed to have disturbed members of the Congress far less than the senior leadership's lack of effort to consolidate support in Manipur and Goa. Congress' performance in the five state assembly polls and consecutive attitude towards consolidating support in 2 states has led to in-fighting in the Congress with many raising questions about Rahul Gandhi's leadership.
In an interview to a television channel, Congress' Rajya Sabha MP from Satyavrat Chaturvedi said that 'Rahul Gandhi himself should take a decision for the sake of the party' when asked if Rahul should continue to be the leader of the party. Satyavrat Chaturvedi put the onus on Rahul Gandhi to react to the in-fighting and question being raised within the party.
It may be noted that while Rahul Gandhi, accompanied by Sonia Gandhi, had taken the responsibility for the Congress' failure in the 2014 parliamentary polls, he refused to be seen in public after the five state poll debacle. Questions were also raised on why Rahul Gandhi, who campaigned alongside Akhilesh Yadav for their alliance, refused to be a part of the post-result press conference that Akhilesh Yadav held conceding defeat.
The massive loss for the Congress is now sending jitters to party members in other states where elections are around the corner.
