Flight LH752 Returns To Frankfurt Mid-Air Following Bomb Threat Alert

A Lufthansa flight bound for Hyderabad was forced to return to Frankfurt after it failed to receive landing clearance due to a bomb threat. Flight LH752, which had departed from Frankfurt, was scheduled to arrive at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport early Monday, June 16, 2025.

Midway through the journey, while the aircraft was still outside Indian airspace, the airline was informed that landing permission had not been granted. As a result, the flight made a U-turn and flew back to Frankfurt.

"We did not receive a permit to land in Hyderabad, and that's why the aircraft took a U-turn and returned," Lufthansa Airlines said, as quoted by news agency ANI.

A senior official at Hyderabad airport confirmed that the decision was linked to a bomb threat received while the plane was still outside Indian airspace. Due to the potential security risk, the aircraft was not allowed to enter Indian territory and was instructed to return to its origin.

The unexpected diversion sparked questions, as Lufthansa cited the lack of landing clearance, while Indian authorities connected the incident to the threat received via email. Further details about the nature of the threat or specifics about the passengers on board have not yet been released.

This event comes just two days after a similar incident involving an Air India flight. On June 13, Air India flight AI 379 from Phuket to New Delhi was forced to make an emergency landing shortly after takeoff, also following a bomb threat. That aircraft had departed at 9:30 AM and returned immediately after the alert, prompting swift action from airport security in Thailand.

Both incidents have raised concerns over aviation safety and triggered heightened security measures for international flights bound for India. Investigations into both threats are currently underway.
