Flats Built On Land Seized From Gangster Atiq Ahmed Handed Over To The Poor

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday visited Prayagraj for a special purpose as he inaugurated the flats for the poors, built on land confiscated from slain gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, in Prayagraj. The flats were built as part of an affordable housing project under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). The project was launched by Adityanath on December 26, 2021, after the land was freed from Ahmed's possession.

A total of 76 flats have been built in two blocks. The flats are 41 square meters in size and have two rooms, a kitchen, and a toilet. They cost Rs 6 lakh each, but beneficiaries will only have to pay Rs 3.5 lakh.

The flats were allotted through a lottery on June 9. The lottery was held in the auditorium of Allahabad Medical Association. After verifying the applications of 6030 people, 1590 were found eligible to participate in the lottery.

The beneficiaries are excited and happy about the project. They are looking forward to receiving the keys to their flats from Adityanath.

In addition to inspecting the flats, Adityanath will also be handing over the keys to the beneficiaries. He is expected to arrive in Prayagraj on Friday morning and will inspect the flats in the afternoon. He will then hand over the keys to the beneficiaries in the evening.

The project is seen as a major achievement for the Adityanath government. It is also seen as a way to provide affordable housing to the poor and needy.
