Flash Floods in Gujarat: 4 Drown, Several Vehicles Washed Away in Junagarh | Watch Video
Severe to exceptionally heavy rainfall battered several districts in the southern and Saurashtra regions of Gujarat on Saturday, resulting in a flood-like situation in urban areas and leaving villages isolated as water levels in dams and rivers surged to hazardous levels.
Numerous parts of the state experienced waterlogging, leading to traffic jams and transportation challenges for residents.

The districts of Navsari and Junagadh were particularly hard-hit, with torrential downpours affecting residential areas and marketplaces. Authorities urged people to exercise caution, avoid visiting dams or surrounding areas, and report any emergencies.
Junagadh city faced significant impacts, with parked cars and livestock swept away by rushing waters, following a rainfall of 219 mm in just 8 hours. Residents were forced to wade through waist-deep water to reach safer locations, and volunteers rescued some individuals from strong currents. Emergency response teams were mobilized to relocate people from low-lying regions to safer places.

In the south Gujarat district of Navsari, heavy rains disrupted normal life, causing flooding in both urban and rural areas. Tragically, a father and son were swept away in a swollen drain in Navsari city. While the man was rescued, efforts were ongoing to locate the son, according to an official.
Additionally, heavy showers led to traffic congestion on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad national highway near Navsari.
In another unfortunate incident, a father and son drowned after their car was washed away near Silvassa town in Dadra and Nagar Haveli districts.
Other districts, including Devbhumi Dwarka, Bhavnagar, Bharuch, Surat, Tapi, Valsad, and Amreli, also experienced substantial rainfall.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued warnings of continued heavy to very heavy rainfall in south Gujarat and Saurashtra-Kutch districts until Sunday morning and predicted similar conditions for many other districts over the next three days.
Fishermen were advised to refrain from venturing along and off the north Gujarat coast from July 22 to July 26 due to squally weather conditions.
