Flagging Off Ceremony Marks Milestone In Strengthening J&K Police Stations To Combat Terrorism

Srinagar, October 28 - A significant event took place today at CTC Lethpora, as the Jammu and Kashmir Police marked a pivotal moment in its ongoing efforts to combat terrorism. The "Operational Capabilities Augmentation of Police Stations (OCAPS)" program, a key component of the "Terror-Free Plan," was officially launched, strengthening 43 police stations to enhance their ability to fight terror-related crimes. This initiative was led by Director General of Police, Shri Dilbag Singh, who expressed confidence in the mission to eliminate terrorism from the region.

Over the past five years, Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed remarkable achievements in its security and peace efforts. Director General Shri Dilbag Singh proudly noted the absence of collateral damage, law and order incidents, and civilian casualties during this period. The graph of terrorism has reached a historic low, and the state is firmly on course to achieve a future devoid of terrorism.

At the flagging-off ceremony, 307 officials and 22 command vehicles were dispatched to 22 police stations, enhancing their capabilities to combat terror-related crimes. The colorful parade, presided over by DGP Shri Dilbag Singh, was attended by distinguished guests including Spl DG CID J&K Shri R.R Swain, Spl DGP Crime J&K Shri A.K Choudhary, and other high-ranking officials.

In his address, DGP Shri Dilbag Singh commended the Principal and his staff for their exceptional training efforts. He acknowledged the dedication of officers from both the police force and other security agencies. Stressing the importance of Jammu and Kashmir Police's role as "the people's police," he reaffirmed their commitment to the safety of the region's youth, residents, and children attending school for a brighter future. The DGP urged the public to continue supporting the police for a better tomorrow.

Director General Shri Dilbag Singh emphasized that the term "Zero" has evolved into a positive symbol of progress in J&K over the past five years, with zero collateral damage, zero law and order incidents, and zero civilian casualties. He confirmed that the graph of terrorism has reached an all-time low and expressed confidence in achieving a terrorism-free region.

Shri Singh further detailed the "Operational Capacity Augmentation of Police Stations (OCAPS)" initiative, launched this year to equip 43 police stations with modern weaponry and technology to bolster their Peace and Stability Teams (PSTs). The first phase covered 21 police stations, and today's deployment targeted the remaining 22 police stations as part of the "Zero Terror Plan."

The command vehicles assigned to these police stations are equipped with state-of-the-art gadgets, which will be invaluable during anti-insurgency operations. The safety of the police force is a top priority, and providing additional safety gear will enhance their efficiency and capabilities on the frontlines against terror.

Police stations covered under OCAPS will have access to the latest weaponry, drones, and 14-member squads dedicated to countering terror incidents, further strengthening area domination.

While acknowledging the recent success of eliminating five terrorists in Machil, Kupwara, the DGP emphasized the ongoing attempts by adversaries to disrupt peace in J&K. However, he assured that the border security grid is robust and capable of thwarting all threats along the Line of Control. The police and security forces are working in perfect synergy to eradicate terrorism from the region.

During the ceremony, the DGP witnessed a live demonstration of trained JK Police officers and officials showcasing their skills in anti-terror operations.

In a media statement, DGP Shri Dilbag Singh credited the strengthened security arrangements and improved security situation to the support of the Government of India and local administration. He highlighted the implementation of the "Zero Terror Plan," identifying and reinforcing 43 police stations with high instances of terror crimes, and providing specialized training to the personnel stationed in these areas.

With the deputation of these "Peace and Stability Teams," which will operate around the clock, the DGP assured the public of enhanced security and safety.

Reflecting on his tenure as DGP, Shri Singh expressed satisfaction in the visible return of peace on the ground. The culture of strikes and stone pelting, along with law and order challenges, have significantly diminished, and the number of misguided youth joining terrorist ranks has decreased.

Concluding the event, DGP Shri Dilbag Singh flagged off the command vehicles deployed to police stations for fighting terror-related crimes. Later in the afternoon, he inaugurated a Computer lab cum Library building, a Conference Hall, and a spacious mess and dining hall building for the Training Centre.
