Five Injured in Stone Pelting Incident Over Temple Encroachment in Madhya Pradesh
A clash erupted in Devra village, Mauganj district, Madhya Pradesh, when two groups engaged in stone-pelting over a disputed wall. The wall was allegedly built by encroaching on temple land. Police reported that more than five people were injured during the incident. Additionally, a hut was set ablaze by agitators, escalating tensions further.

Police Intervention and Arrests
BJP MLA Pradeep Patel was arrested after he and his supporters arrived at the scene. Their presence led to the demolition of the wall, which was claimed to be an encroachment on temple property. Mauganj SP Rasna Thakur confirmed that Patel is currently held in a community hall in Rewa. To restore order, a significant police force was deployed in the village.
Background of the Dispute
The conflict began over the removal of an encroachment wall at the Mahadevan temple premises. Villagers had been protesting for three days, demanding action against the encroachment. Despite the MLA's instructions to local authorities to address the issue, no action was taken initially. This prompted Patel to visit the site with his supporters.
Escalation and Injuries
The situation intensified when protesters dismantled the wall, leading to stone-throwing from both sides. The police intervened to control the chaos. Among those injured were two policemen, according to SP Thakur. The authorities have since managed to bring the situation under control and are maintaining peace in the area.
Efforts are ongoing to ensure stability and prevent further violence in Devra village. The police continue to monitor the situation closely to avoid any resurgence of conflict between the groups involved.
