Fishing, water sports banned in Goa in view of BRICS Summit
Panaji, Oct 11: Fishing and water sports in Goa were temporarily banned from today in view of the upcoming BRICS summit beginning in the coastal state from October 15.
"All the fishing vessels are asked to stay at the jetties, also the water sports have been stopped considering the security measures for the BRICS (Summit)," Deputy Inspector General of Police Vimal Gupta told reporters today.

He said these activities will resume only after the summit culminates and heads of different countries leave Goa.
Gupta said special watch has been kept on the beaches which are manned by anti-terrorist squads and quick response teams.
The marine police has also been asked to be on the guard, he said. Gupta also said up to 10 miles, the Coast Guard and Navy will be taking care of all security-related measures.
