First-Ever Future Warfare Course Launches on September 23, Led by CDS General Anil Chauhan
General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff, announced that a pioneering future warfare course will commence on September 23. This course, open to officers of various ranks, was discussed during the Bharat Shakti Defence Conclave. General Chauhan also elaborated on the government's vision for joint theatre commands.

The course aims to break traditional barriers by being rank-agnostic. Officers ranging from Major to Major General will participate, allowing for cross-rank learning. "A major general may probably learn something from a major and a major can learn strategy and operations from a major general," he stated.
Future Warfare Course Details
This innovative course is distinct from regular ones where officers of similar ranks attend together. It encourages diverse interaction and learning among different ranks. The Chief of Defence Staff emphasised its uniqueness and potential to mature over time.
During the conclave, General Chauhan addressed the evolving nature of warfare and the need for adaptation. He highlighted the importance of developing strategies tailored to India's future military engagements rather than imitating advanced militaries.
Strategic Vision for Future Conflicts
The future warfare course is part of a broader strategy to prepare for upcoming challenges. General Chauhan stressed that India must chart its own path in military strategy, focusing on how it will engage in future conflicts.
The course's introduction marks a significant step in redefining military education. By fostering an environment where officers can learn from each other regardless of rank, it aims to enhance strategic thinking across the board.
General Chauhan's insights at the conclave reflect a commitment to innovation in defence training. The new course represents a shift towards more inclusive and forward-thinking military education.
