Firing at Delhi court: Woman, lawyer injured; four rounds fired

A woman and a lawyer were injured in an incident of firing at Saket court on Friday.

Firing at Saket district court in Delhi

"Two persons, a woman and a lawyer, have suffered bullet injuries in the firing incident," Hindustan Times quoted Chandan Chowdhary, DCP South, as saying.

The victim was identified as M Radha (40) and the suspected attacker is Chowdhary, the report said. He is said to be a suspended lawyer.

According to reports, the injured was rushed to Max Hospital in Saket.

A senior police officer has informed NDTV that the woman was in the court over the hearing of a financial dispute with the man, who fired four rounds of bullets.

An investigation has started.

The clips doing rounds on social media sites showed the victim bleeding from her stomach.

Responding to the incident, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, "The law and order situation in Delhi has completely crumbled. Instead of obstructing the work of others and doing dirty politics on everything, everyone should focus on their own work. And if he does not manage, then he should resign so that someone else can do it. The safety of the people cannot be left to Ram's trust."

Earlier this month, a 53-year-old lawyer was shot dead by two bike-borne assailants in Delhi's Dwarka area.

It may also be recalled that two gunmen dressed as lawyers fired inside Delhi's Rohini court in September 2022. The gunmen were killed in police firing. The two attackers, Rahul Tyagi and Jagdeep Jagga fired multiple bullets at gangster Jitender Maan alias Gogi.

Police personnel retaliated, allegedly killing the two on the spot.

A gun-firing incident was reported following a fight between two advocates in April last year in Rohini Court.
