Panic gripped the new fruit and vegetable market in Sahibabad when gunfire erupted during a meeting called by the market secretary. Eyewitnesses say several outsiders entered the premises, and one man in a white kurta pulled out a pistol and opened fire at the crowd.

Viral videos show the gunman aiming directly at people as his alleged supporters went on a rampage, damaging property and assaulting attendees with chairs. The footage also captures the dramatic moment when some individuals tried to chase the shooter after shots rang out.

Police confirmed that one person was hit by a bullet, while two others were seriously injured during the ensuing violence. The firing sparked a stampede-like situation as market committee members, vendors, and officials scrambled for cover.

Despite the chaos, traders gathered in front of police officers to continue their protest, accusing authorities of failing to ensure security at the market.

Additional Police Commissioner Alok Priyadarshi said, "We have deployed a police force to maintain order. The cause of the firing is still under investigation." The injured have been admitted to the hospital, and their condition is being monitored.

Investigators are reviewing video evidence to identify the gunman and his accomplices. The brazen attack in broad daylight has raised alarm over safety in one of Ghaziabad's busiest commercial hubs, with traders demanding immediate arrests and tighter security measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
