Fire Erupts At Scrap Factory In Mirbazar Area Of Anantnag, No Casualties Reported

A major fire broke out at a scrap factory in the Mirbazar area of south Kashmir's Anantnag district on Sunday, causing panic among local residents and commuters near the National Highway.

The blaze led to thick smoke and massive flames rising from the factory premises, with visuals from the area quickly spreading across social media. Firefighters rushed to the spot soon after the incident was reported and launched efforts to control the fire.

Fire Erupts Near National Highway

According to Kulgam Police, the fire broke out at a scrap factory located in Mirbazar, close to the busy National Highway area.

Eyewitnesses said huge flames could be seen from a long distance, while dark smoke spread across the surrounding locality. The smoke also affected visibility and movement near the highway for some time.

The sudden incident created fear among nearby residents, shopkeepers and people travelling through the area.

Firefighters Launch Rescue And Control Operations

Soon after receiving information about the incident, teams from the Fire and Emergency Services department reached the spot with fire tenders. Officials said firefighters immediately began operations to stop the flames from spreading to nearby buildings and structures.

Authorities stated that several fire tenders were deployed at the location due to the intensity of the fire. Emergency teams continued cooling and containment operations for several hours to bring the situation under control.

Cause Of Fire Not Yet Known

Officials said the exact reason behind the fire is still unknown and investigations will be conducted after the flames are completely extinguished. Police and emergency officials are expected to inspect the factory premises to determine how the fire started.

At the time of reporting, no injuries or deaths had been reported in the incident.
Kulgam Police confirmed that there was no immediate report of any loss of life.

The latest fire incident comes amid several similar cases reported in Jammu and Kashmir over recent months. Earlier, a fire had broken out at Laripora in Pahalgam involving structures belonging to Asal Resort and one vehicle. Firefighters later managed to bring the situation under control without any casualties.

In another major incident earlier this year, several houses were damaged after a massive fire broke out in the Nowhatta area of Srinagar. Due to the congested nature of the locality, the fire spread rapidly before emergency services controlled the flames.

Authorities continue to urge people and commercial establishments to follow fire safety measures carefully, especially in areas dealing with flammable materials.
