Fire breaks out in Mumbai high-rise building, many feared trapped

The blaze started in the 26-storeyed Mount Plant building in Kemps Corner area of the posh locality, he said. The official termed it as a major fire whose cause could not be ascertained yet. Fourteen fire engines, seven water tankers and four ambulances have been rushed to the spot.
The fire started on the 12th floor of the building. Many are believed to be trapped in the building. People who are on the 10th floor have been evacuated, reports suggest.
However TV reports suggest that many were still feared trapped on the floors above the fire.
Residents were evacuated to higher floors and were said to be safe.Rescue operations continued till late Friday night and according to latest reports the fire was brought under control.
