Fire At Mahakumbh Prayagraj: Fire Tenders Douse Blaze, Situation Under Control

Prayagraj ADG Bhanu Bhaskar confirmed that there were no casualties from the recent fire and that it is now under control. "After receiving the information about the fire incident, fire services and other emergency services arrived at the spot within five minutes," Bhaskar said, according to PTI. "There is officially no loss of life, but the investigation is underway. Fire is under control now."

Previous Incidents and Causes

On Thursday, fires broke out at two locations: Police Line Camp on Bindu Madhav Marg and Ujjain Ashram Baba near Bapa Sitaram Pandal on Harishchandra Marg, Sector 18. Although two tents were destroyed, there were no injuries reported. Chief fire officer Pramod Sharma mentioned that a short circuit caused the Police Line Camp fire, while the cause of the ashram's hut fire remains unknown.

Fire At Mahakumbh

Last week, another fire occurred at a 'kalpvasi' tent in Sector 19 of the temporary township for Maha Kumbh. Officials attributed this incident to a gas leak. Earlier on January 19, a significant fire resulted from a cylinder explosion in Sector 19 of the Maha Kumbh Mela area, damaging over twelve camps but causing no injuries.

Additional Fire Incidents

On January 25, two vehicles caught fire in Sector 2 of the Maha Kumbh fair area. Fortunately, these incidents did not result in any casualties either. The repeated occurrences of fires have raised concerns about safety measures during this large-scale event.
