Fire at house of Nithari killings case co-accused

Noida, Oct 9: A fire broke out at the house of

case co-accused Moninder Singh Pandher here this evening, fire officials said. Fire tenders were rushed to deal with the blaze at House No.D5 at Sector 31 here, the site of the grisly murders of children which had rocked the country in 2006.

Police said that sabotage could not be ruled out as a cause of the fire at the house, which is at present unoccupied. The serial killings came to the light in December, 2006, after discovery of human remains from a drain behind Pandher's house.

Both Pandher and his domestic help Surendra Koli were arrested in the matter. Pandher was last month released on bail in the case by Allahabad High Court. Koli, whose mercy petition was turned down by the President after he was convicted and sentenced to death for the killings, has received a stay on his execution from Supreme Court till October 29.
