FIR Lodged Against Rahul Gandhi, Read Details Here

Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has been named in an FIR by Odisha's Jharsuguda police. As confirmed by police sources, this action follows a speech he delivered last month. Rama Hari Pujhari, a BJP functionary from Sarabhal, Jharsuguda, lodged the complaint on February 7.

The complaint revolves around Gandhi's remarks at the Congress's new headquarters inauguration on January 15 in Central Delhi. During his speech, Gandhi accused the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and BJP of "capturing every single institution" in India. He further claimed that his party was battling not just the BJP but also the Indian state.

Allegations and Legal Proceedings

Pujhari accused Gandhi of making "anti-national statements" that allegedly hurt Indians. The FIR charges Gandhi under Sections 152 and 197(1)(d) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). These sections relate to threatening India's sovereignty and spreading misleading information that could harm national security.

The complainant argued that Gandhi's statements exceeded free speech limits. By declaring opposition to the Indian State itself, he allegedly incited rebellion and subversive activities among citizens. According to Pujhari, undermined India's sovereignty and integrity.

Police Investigation Underway

Himansu Kumar Lal, IG (northern range), confirmed receiving complaints from BJP leaders and other groups on February 5. "I had directed the Jharsuguda SP to investigate the matter thoroughly," Lal told media.
