Woman Accuses BJP MP Ravi Kishan of Paternity, Faces FIR for Extortion
An FIR has been lodged against six individuals, including a woman who has made claims against BJP's Gorakhpur MP, Ravi Kishan Shukla, regarding the paternity of her daughter. The police confirmed this development on Wednesday. The complaint, which led to the FIR, was filed by Ravi Kishan's wife, Preeti Shukla, at the Hazratganj police station late Tuesday night.

The individuals named in the FIR include Aparna Thakur (also known as Aparna Soni), her husband Rajesh Soni, their children Shenova and Sonak Soni, Samajwadi Party leader Vivek Kumar Pandey, and journalist Khurshid Khan. They are facing charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including conspiracy, giving false evidence, extortion by intimidation and threat, intentional insult, and criminal intimidation.
According to the police statement, Preeti Shukla alleged that Aparna Thakur threatened her by claiming underworld connections. Thakur reportedly demanded a ransom of Rs 20 crore from Shukla, with threats of defaming Ravi Kishan through a false rape case if the demands were not met. This accusation adds a layer of complexity to the case, highlighting the severe allegations made against Thakur and her associates.
The FIR also mentioned that despite a complaint being filed with the Mumbai Police regarding this matter, Aparna Thakur proceeded to hold a press conference in Lucknow on April 15. During this conference, she made false allegations against Ravi Kishan. The document suggests that the other individuals named in the FIR were complicit in these actions.
This incident occurs amidst the political backdrop of Ravi Kishan being renominated by the BJP to contest from Gorakhpur in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Kishan, a well-known figure in the Bhojpuri film industry, has represented this seat since his victory in the 2019 elections. The case thus not only involves high-profile personalities but also intersects with political narratives in the lead-up to significant electoral contests.
