Delhi Police Registers FIR Against AAP For Posting AI-Generated Videos Of Modi And Shah

Delhi Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The FIR concerns AI-generated images and videos of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, allegedly posted on AAP's official X account. Police sources confirmed the registration of the case at North Avenue police station but did not disclose specific details of the FIR.

According to police sources, a complaint was received about objectionable content featuring the prime minister and home minister on AAP's official X handle. The controversial videos were reportedly shared by AAP on January 10 and January 13. One video, created using AI-deepfake technology, depicted a scene from a 90s Bollywood movie. In this video, the faces of villains were replaced with those of BJP leaders, and the audio was altered to discuss Delhi elections.

Allegations and Reactions

An officer stated that after reviewing the complaint, an FIR was lodged, and an investigation is underway. Responding to these developments, AAP accused BJP of using standard tactics as elections approach. They claimed that false cases are being filed to distract from genuine public issues. AAP suggested that BJP's next move might involve targeting Chief Minister Atishi and Manish Sisodia with arrests and raids as part of a political vendetta.

AAP further alleged that no FIRs would be filed against BJP leaders involved in illegal activities such as manipulating voter lists by adding fake entries or deleting genuine voters. They also accused BJP members of attempting to buy votes through cash and gifts. AAP claimed this selective use of power highlights BJP's fear of AAP's increasing popularity and dedication to public welfare.

The situation underscores ongoing political tensions between AAP and BJP, particularly as elections near. The allegations and counter-allegations reflect the charged political atmosphere in Delhi. Both parties continue to accuse each other of unethical practices, intensifying their rivalry.

The investigation into the AI-generated content is expected to shed more light on the matter. Meanwhile, both parties remain steadfast in their positions, with AAP criticising BJP's actions as politically motivated. The outcome of this investigation could have significant implications for both parties in the upcoming elections.
