Fearing threat to Chhota Rajan, Mumbai cops intercept calls from Pak, B'desh and Nepal
Mumbai, Oct 30: The hunter has been hunted, but the threat looms large on Chhota Rajan, especially after Chhota Shakeel's open death threat. MUmbai police is leaving no stones unturned to ensure that Rajan is safe in the city once he arrives here. Therefore, they have started intercepting all international calls coming from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal.
A senior officer said,"Shakeel, who rose in D-company ranks after Rajan parted ways with D-gang, has been after Rajan's life ever since. Shakeel had sworn to wipe out Rajan gang completely."
Incidentally, the police was tipped off about a conspiracy to wipe off Rajan's close aid DK Rao. The crime branch had arrested Mohammad Mahir Ashraf Kalbe Siddiqui, 30, of Mumbra and Akhtar Jamal Khan, 35, of Dharavi after learning about the plan.
The fact that the D-company was closing in on Rajan is evident from the way Dawood's associates were closing in on him in Australia. But Rajan fled that country too and reached Bali where he was arrested by the police there who will hand him over to the Mumbai police. IT is said that Rajan will be locked up in the same cell as that of Kasab. An officer said,"In the past too, criminals facing threat to their lives were lodged in the Unit 1 lock-up within the Mumbai police headquarters."
Police is also likely to constitute a team that is well-versed in the underworld operations to interrogate Rajan.
