Fatal Road Accident In Uttarakhand: Eight Nepalese Citizens Killed In Nainital
Eight people, including seven Nepali citizens, were killed after their vehicle plunged into a gorge in the Betalghat area of Nainital district on Monday night, as reported by the police.
The spot was rushed to as soon as information was received, and a rescue operation was launched with the help of villagers and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), as reported by Hindustan Times.

Due to the darkness and the depth of the gorge, the operation took two hours. Seven Nepalese citizens and the driver lost their lives. According to Aneesh Ahmed, station house officer (SHO) of Betalghat police station, the accident site is located around 60km from the Nainital district headquarters.
The deceased were engaged in a Jal Jeevan Mission project in Unchakot village of Betalghat. Following the completion of their work, nine Nepalese labourers had arranged for a vehicle to return home to Tanakpur in Champawat district via Ramnagar late Monday evening, as reported by Hindustan Times.
At approximately 10.30pm, the vehicle's driver, Rajendra Kumar (38), a resident of Baskot village, lost control of the vehicle, causing it to plunge into a 200-metre gorge.
Villagers in the vicinity promptly notified the police. The SHO, along with the SDRF team, rushed to the scene and initiated a rescue operation with the assistance of villagers, as per the media reports.
"Seven Nepalese citizens and the driver lost their lives on the spot. The deceased individuals have been identified as Vish Ram (50), Dheeraj (45), Anant Ram Chaudhary (40), Vinod Chaudhary (38), Uday Ram Chaudhary (55), Tilak Ram Chaudhary (45), and Gopal (60). Two Nepalese citizens, Shanti Chaudhary and Chhotu Chaudhary, sustained injuries. They were all employed by a contractor," Ahmed stated.
