Company Director, Three Workers Dead After Telangana Pharma Plant Explosion

Hyderabad, April 3 - A tragic incident unfolded at a pharmaceutical company's plant in Sangareddy district, Telangana, where an explosion in a chemical reactor resulted in the loss of four lives and left 16 others injured. The explosion occurred at SB Organics Ltd, situated in Chandapur village, approximately 40 km from Hyderabad International Airport. The incident took place around 5 pm on Wednesday, causing a fire that rapidly spread through the premises before being brought under control by fire department officials.

Four Killed in Pharma Plant Blast

The casualties included the director of the pharmaceutical firm and three workers. Details regarding the identities of the deceased have not been disclosed immediately following the incident. A senior police official reported that the explosion was powerful enough to throw people in its vicinity, leading to these fatalities and injuries. The injured individuals have been transported to various hospitals, with two of them in critical condition and referred to a hospital in Hyderabad for advanced treatment.

The victims hailed from different states, and investigations are underway to determine the cause of the explosion. In response to this tragic event, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy convened a meeting with officials and directed them to ensure the best possible medical care for the injured. He also extended his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives.

Telangana Governor C P Radhakrishnan expressed his shock over the incident and has instructed state administration to provide all necessary support to the victims and their families. State Environment Minister Konda Surekha, who visited the site, announced that discussions would be held with the company regarding compensation for the families of the deceased and the injured. She emphasized the need for company managements to remain vigilant, especially during summer, to prevent such incidents.

Due to the enforcement of the model code of conduct for Lok Sabha elections, immediate ex-gratia announcements cannot be made by the government. However, assurances have been given that support will be extended to affected families after the elections. The district Collector has been directed to take appropriate legal actions in response to this tragedy. BRS president and former chief chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao also conveyed his condolences for the loss of life at the factory.

This incident has brought attention to safety protocols and emergency preparedness within industrial units, especially those dealing with hazardous chemicals. As investigations proceed, there is a collective call for stringent measures to prevent such disasters in the future.
