Farooq Abdullah Seeks Investigation into Bohri Kadal Blaze, Supports Victims
National Conference president Farooq Abdullah has urged a comprehensive investigation into the fire incident that occurred in Bohri Kadal earlier this week. The fire resulted in significant damage, destroying two commercial buildings, around 10 residential houses, and a 75-year-old mosque.

During his visit to the site, Abdullah was accompanied by the party's chief spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the affected families and assured them of his support. "I will advocate for your rehabilitation and recovery with the concerned government agencies," he promised.
Call for Improved Firefighting Infrastructure
Abdullah highlighted the inadequacy of Srinagar's firefighting infrastructure as a major concern. He stressed the urgent need to address these deficiencies to prevent future incidents. "The current state of the infrastructure is inadequate and poses a significant risk to the safety and well-being of the residents," he said.
He pointed out that the existing fire-safety protocols, hydrants, posts, and stations are insufficient for Srinagar's growing population. Abdullah called on authorities to prioritize this issue and allocate necessary resources for improvement.
Community-Based Assistance
Abdullah also appealed for community-based assistance to help fire victims rebuild their lives. He emphasized that collective efforts are essential in supporting those affected by such tragedies. "We must come together as a community to assist those who have lost so much," he stated.
Criticizing the compensation provided to fire victims, Abdullah noted that it has not been increased for years. He called for immediate action to address this issue, ensuring that victims receive adequate support.
In his interactions with the victims, Abdullah acknowledged their hardships and reiterated his commitment to supporting their rehabilitation efforts. He assured them that he would do everything in his capacity to help them recover from this unfortunate incident.
The National Conference president's visit aimed to assess the situation firsthand and extend support to those affected by the fire. His call for a thorough investigation into the incident underscores the need for accountability and preventive measures.
The recent fire incident in Bohri Kadal has brought attention to the critical need for improved firefighting infrastructure in Srinagar. Addressing these deficiencies is essential to ensure the safety and well-being of residents and prevent future tragedies.
Abdullah's advocacy for better infrastructure and adequate compensation highlights the importance of addressing these issues promptly. His commitment to supporting fire victims reflects a broader call for community solidarity in times of crisis.
The tragic fire incident serves as a reminder of the vulnerabilities faced by communities due to inadequate infrastructure. It underscores the need for immediate action to enhance firefighting capabilities and provide sufficient support to those affected by such disasters.
Ensuring that Srinagar's firefighting infrastructure meets the needs of its growing population is crucial. Authorities must prioritize this issue and allocate resources effectively to safeguard residents' lives and properties.
Farooq Abdullah's visit and subsequent calls for action highlight the pressing need for improvements in firefighting infrastructure and victim compensation. His efforts aim to bring about meaningful change and support those impacted by such devastating incidents.
