Fallen Hero Mohit Rathour Cremated with Full State Honours

Rifleman Mohit Rathour, who lost his life in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara on Saturday, will be cremated with full state honours in his village in Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, an official said. Rathour, 27, was the only son of his parents and joined the Army in 2017.

Hero Rathours Honoured Farewell

The body of Rathour will arrive at his Sabhanagar village in the Islamnagar police station area of Badaun district on Sunday. It will be cremated with full state honours after the last rites. The entire village is in shock over Rathour's death due to the terrorist attack.

Details of the Attack

A soldier was killed and four others, including a Captain, were injured as the Indian Army foiled an attack by Pakistan's Border Action Team (BAT) in the Kamakari sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district on Saturday, military sources said. They mentioned that a Pakistani intruder was also killed during the exchange of fire, while two others managed to return to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) amid the intense gunfight that lasted for hours.

The BAT generally consists of special forces personnel from the Pakistan Army and terrorists. The incident has heightened tensions in the region, with security forces remaining vigilant against further incursions.

Family and Community Reaction

Islamnagar police station SHO Harendra Kumar stated that Rathour was the only son of farmer Nathu Singh. He had lost his mother Kalavati several years ago. Rathour was married to Ruchi Chauhan from Karenge village in Wazirganj police station area about one-and-a-half years ago. He is survived by his father, three sisters, and wife. Two of his sisters are married while one remains unmarried.

The SHO added that Rathour had come on leave in January and returned to duty on February 14. The news of his death has left the community deeply saddened and mourning their loss.

Funeral Arrangements

Badaun District Magistrate Nidhi Srivastava informed that Rathour's body will reach Bareilly by air from Srinagar. On Sunday morning, it will be transported from Bareilly to his native village in an Army vehicle for cremation with state honours.

The entire village is preparing to pay their respects to Rathour, who sacrificed his life for the nation. The community is coming together to support his family during this difficult time.
