Fake Cardiologist Impersonating UK Doctor Linked To 7 Deaths In MP: Probe Ordered Against 'Dr N John Camm'

Seven individuals have lost their lives after allegedly being treated by a fake cardiologist at a hospital in Damoh district, Madhya Pradesh. The incident has prompted the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to launch an investigation.

According to NHRC member Priyank Kanoongo, a team will be stationed in Damoh from April 7 to 9 to carry out an inquiry into the matter.

Who Is Dr N John Camm

"We received a complaint stating that a fake doctor performed cardiac surgeries, resulting in several deaths. It was also alleged that the missionary hospital in question received government funding under the Ayushman Bharat scheme," Kanoongo told news agency ANI.

"This is a serious accusation. The commission has taken cognisance of it and is pursuing a detailed investigation," he added.

District Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Mukesh Jain did not confirm the total number of casualties but stated that an inquiry report has been submitted to District Collector Sudhir Kochar.

What we know so far about the fake cardiologist:

- A complaint submitted to the NHRC by a local resident claimed that an individual named "Dr N John Camm" had been treating patients at the Mission Hospital in Damoh.

- The complainant revealed that the man's real identity is Narendra Vikramaditya Yadav, who had falsely claimed to have received medical training in London.

- Yadav allegedly misled patients by adopting the name of a renowned British cardiologist, Professor John Camm.

- The impostor reportedly joined the hospital in January 2025 and is believed to have conducted at least a dozen surgeries before disappearing in February.

- The real Professor John Camm had issued a warning on social media about the impersonator.

- Yadav is also the subject of an FIR in Telangana, which is currently being verified.

- The hospital, which is part of the Ayushman Bharat health scheme, is now under scrutiny for potential misuse of public funds. An internal investigation has been initiated.

- Back in 2023, UP CM Yogi Adityanath had also fallen prey to Yadav's mischief. Yogi's Twitter account, had retweeted Yadav's post where the conman was seen seeking UP CM's intervention to control riots in France.
