A Thursday morning explosion near the Nalagarh Police Station in Solan, Himachal Pradesh, caused damage to nearby structures but resulted in no injuries, with police launching an investigation and forensic teams collecting samples. SP Vinod Dhiman confirmed the blast occurred on land behind the police station and not on police property, impacting an area within a 40-50 meter radius.

Although the blast occurred just metres from the police station, authorities confirmed that no injuries or casualties were reported.

The impact was strong enough to shatter window panes, including those of the police station's investigation room. Police have secured the area and launched a detailed probe to determine the cause of the explosion.

Blast impact felt up to 50 metres, structures damaged

According to the police, the explosion was felt within a radius of nearly 40 to 50 metres. A small crater was found at the spot, suggesting significant force. Several window panes in surrounding buildings were broken, and a few nearby trees suffered partial damage due to the blast.

However, officials said the exact nature of the explosion remains unclear at this stage, and technical analysis will be crucial in establishing what caused it.

Explosion occurred on land behind police station, says SP

Vinod Dhiman, Superintendent of Police, Baddi, clarified that the blast did not occur on police department property. "The explosion took place on land located behind the police station and not on police department property. There is a large accumulation of garbage at the site. At this stage, we cannot rule out the possibility of splinters or some explosive material being involved. A few trees in the vicinity were partially damaged due to the impact," he told The Indian Express.

The statement indicated that investigators are examining multiple possibilities, including the presence of hazardous material amid accumulated waste.

No injuries reported, forensic teams collect samples

Confirming that there were no casualties, Dhiman said, "Fortunately, no one was hurt. The area has been secured, and forensic experts from the State Forensic Science Laboratory have collected samples from the site for examination."

The blast led to fear among local residents, many of whom rushed towards the location after hearing the loud sound. Police personnel quickly reached the scene and cordoned off the area to prevent public movement and ensure safety.

Investigation underway, police await forensic findings

Senior police officials conducted an initial inspection soon after the incident, while additional forces were deployed as a precautionary measure. The police are now investigating whether the explosion was accidental or caused by external material.

Authorities said further details would emerge once forensic reports and technical assessments of the collected evidence are completed.
