A tragic accident on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway claimed the lives of at least 13 people, with 41 others suffering severe burn injuries, on December 24, 2024.

The accident involved a collision between an LPG tanker and a truck, which led to a massive fire engulfing over 30 vehicles. The scale of the disaster is shocking, but what stands out is the survival of the LPG tanker's driver, Jaiveer, and the heroic steps he took to avoid becoming a victim, as reported by Hindustan Times.

Jaipur LPG Tanker Driver Survive- How

The Triggering Incident: A Collision with a Truck

The accident began when the LPG tanker collided with a truck, causing significant damage to the tanker's nozzle. As the collision occurred, the LPG gas being transported began leaking from the tanker, and the ignition of other vehicles nearby triggered a massive fire. This explosion engulfed over 30 vehicles, killing 13 people on the spot and leaving dozens severely injured.

The Driver's Quick Thinking

Jaiveer, the 40-year-old driver of the LPG tanker, is a resident of Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. Despite the chaos surrounding the incident, Jaiveer managed to escape unscathed. According to the police, he quickly assessed the damage and realized the potential danger. The tanker's nozzle had been damaged, and the leaking LPG gas posed a serious risk of explosion, especially with the ignition from other vehicles nearby. Recognizing the danger, Jaiveer took immediate action.

Instead of staying near the tanker, he fled toward the opposite side of the spill to avoid being caught in the ensuing fire. His quick thinking and escape were crucial in saving his life. The police have stated that Jaiveer's decision to flee before the fire ignited likely saved him from the horrific consequences that befell many others at the scene.

The Aftermath of the Explosion

Following the blast, the fire quickly spread, severely injuring more than two dozen people. Among the injured, 23 people are being treated at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital in Jaipur. Many of the victims were burned beyond recognition, and the scale of the disaster has left the community in shock. The explosion also led to the tragic death of the container truck driver who initially collided with the LPG tanker.

Jaiveer was among nine drivers present at the scene who managed to escape the fire. Despite his escape, he is now under investigation by the Special Investigating Team (SIT) probing the accident. Authorities are considering charges related to rash driving and negligence, though they have made it clear that Jaiveer was not at fault for the collision that triggered the disaster.

Ongoing Investigations and Legal Action

The police have registered a case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), including charges for rash and negligent driving, causing death by a negligent act, and causing harm by endangering life. The investigation is still underway, with authorities attempting to determine the exact cause of the accident and whether any negligence was involved on the part of the drivers.

A Heroic Act Amid Tragedy

In a tragic situation, Jaiveer's actions may have saved his life, but his survival does not lessen the scale of the devastation caused by the accident. The community is still reeling from the horror of the explosion, and families are mourning the loss of their loved ones. While investigations continue, one thing is clear: quick thinking and timely action in the face of danger made a difference in saving Jaiveer's life that fateful day.

The tragic event highlights the importance of road safety and the immediate actions that can prevent further loss of life in such catastrophic situations.
