Explained: Congress Promises 6 Guarantees To Telangana Voters: What Are They?
After successfully wooing Karnataka voters with five guarantees, Congress has now sounded the poll bugle in Telangana with six guarantees.
The grand old party made the big announcement at a rally in Tukkuguda in Telangana on Sunday. It was attended by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, senior leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi among others.

So, what have they promised the Telangana voters?
'Indiramma Indlu'
The first guarantee is 'Indiramma Indlu' under which Rs 5 lakh will be given for the construction of a house to all those who do not have one. A 250-square-yard house would also be given to those who fought in the Telangana statehood movement.
It has to be noted that 'Indiramma' (housing scheme) was launched in undivided Andhra in 2006 by YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
'Mahalakshmi' Guarantee
Under the "Mahalakshmi" guarantee, the party promises women Rs 2,500 per month, a gas cylinder for Rs 500 and free travel in buses. Congress had made a similar promise to voters in the Karnataka assembly polls earlier this year.
In Karnataka, the 'Shakti' Scheme has been launched, aimed to offer free bus rides within the state to women and transgender people. It has implemented the 'Gruha Lakshmi' scheme under which the heads of the household will get Rs 2000 financial assistance every month.
'Gruha Jyoti'
The third guarantee for Telangana voters given by Congress is 'Gruha Jyoti' and under this, 200 units free electricity will be given to all households. Congress has implemented this in Karnataka.
'Yuva Vikasam'
Under the fourth guarantee, 'Yuva Vikasam', the party promises Rs 5 lakh assistance for education in college and financial aid in coaching.
'Cheyutha'
Rs 4,000 monthly pension for the elderly and Rs 10 lakh Rajiv Arogyasri insurance would be given under the fifth guarantee 'Cheyutha'.
'Rythu Bharosa'
Finally, the sixth guarantee is 'Rythu Bharosa', under which Rs 15,000 would be given to farmers and Rs 12,000 to farm labourers annually.
Looking at the schemes, the Congress has clearly borrowed the formula from Karnataka Congress that had stuck a chord with the voters. Will this attract the voters? Only time will answer.
